Description

BEAUTIFUL PLANTS FOR DRY GARDENS WITH SIMON RICKARD Course to take place at the TNC and Simon's garden in Trentham. Australians often think of our dry climate as a burden. In fact, it is a great blessing, since a fifth of all the world’s flora comes from countries as dry as our own. Join Simon as he explains how to understand our climate, select the right plants for our gardens, and learn to find happiness in the plants which will thrive for us. Simon was head gardener at the Diggers Club until 2009, overseeing the gardens at Heronswood and St Erth for eight years. From 2008 until 2012, Simon worked as a market gardener, establishing the first iteration of restaurateur Annie Smithers’ kitchen garden. These days, Simon runs his own garden consultancy and coaching service, leads garden tours for Botanica World Discoveries, and delivers lectures and workshops for, amongst others, the Australian Landscape Conference. Simon has written two books, The New Ornamental Garden (2011) and Heirloom Vegetables - a guide to their history and varieties (2014).
